Embers that land against a wall, under a deck, or in bark mulch are a common way homes catch fire. We clear what burns in that strip and photograph it, wall by wall, before and after. You get an Ember Record: a dated photo record you can forward to your insurance agent, HOA, or a buyer.
Bark mulch, leaf and needle litter, and dead plants removed from the 0–5 ft strip
Firewood and stored items moved away from walls
Leaves cleared from under decks and stairs we can reach
Before and after photos added to your Ember Record
Larger homes and outbuildings are quoted in writing after the Photo Check.
Step 3 · keep it clear

How the Ember Record works
01 · BookSend the address
Use the booking form or text us. We confirm the visit window in writing.
02 · PhotographSame slots, every time
Each wall face at 0–5 ft, vents, under decks, gutter line from the ground, fences, firewood, propane. Each photo is dated.
03 · ClearOnly if you say yes
You get a fixed price first. If you book the work, we photograph the same slots again when it is done.
04 · KeepThe record is yours
A PDF of the photos, what we observed, and what we did. You decide who sees it.
What is in a record
Property and visit date
Before and after photos by slot, each with time taken
What we observed within 5 ft, item by item
Work performed and invoice reference
A fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of each photo file, so edits show
A timeline of earlier records for the same home
Your photos, your call
Exterior only, no interiors. We avoid photographing people, plates, and neighbors' property. We do not sell or share your record. You can forward it yourself, and you can ask us to delete our copy.
What local rules already say about the first five feet
Quoted from the adopted local codes, checked October 29, 2026. Only your fire agency decides whether your property complies.
Fallbrook area · North County Fire Protection District
Ordinance 2025-03, effective January 1, 2026
Section 604.12.1: Zone 0, the first 5 feet, "shall be constructed of continuous hardscape or non-combustible materials." Combustible materials must be removed, "including but not limited to roofs, gutters, decks, porches, and stairways," and "firewood and lumber are prohibited."
Municipal Code Chapter 15.17, Section 604.8.2.3.1. For existing homes with landscaping installed before January 1, 2026, Zone 0 allows no combustible mulch or wood chips, no firewood, and no vegetation or other combustible materials under decks. Roofs and gutters must be kept free of leaves and needles. New or replacement landscaping must meet the full noncombustible Zone 0 rule.
Murrieta and unincorporated Riverside County, including much of wine country, have their own fire codes. A statewide Zone 0 regulation has been drafted by the Board of Forestry; check its current status before relying on any statewide date. We tell you which agency covers your parcel before we quote.

No guaranteed insurance discount.
Some California insurers ask for photos or invoices when a homeowner asks about wildfire-mitigation discounts. Whether yours accepts an Ember Record, and whether you qualify for anything, is up to your insurer. Ask your agent before you book if a discount is the reason.
An Ember Record is our photographic record of what we observed and did on the dates shown. It is not a government inspection, a compliance determination, or an IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home designation.
Zone Zero questions
What do you not do?
Roof and ladder work, tree work, herbicides, hauling and disposal, vent or siding retrofits, and anything that needs a license or a permit. Those are declined, not added for a surcharge. Cleared material is bagged for your green-waste cart unless we agree something else in writing.
Do I need the Photo Check if I already know what to clear?
Yes. It is how we give you a fixed price, and it creates the "before" half of your record. The $99 is credited toward a Clear-Out or Zone Zero Keep booked within 30 days.
Can I send the record to my insurance agent?
Yes. It is your PDF to forward. We cannot promise any insurer will accept it or give a discount.
I'm in an HOA. How does the neighbor rate work?
When 5 or more homes on one street or in one HOA book together, each gets 15% off Clear-Out and Zone Zero Keep. Each home still gets its own record, and nothing is shared between homes without each owner's OK.
Is the Photo Check the same as your First Property Check?
Same $99 visit, focused on the five feet around the home. On the booking form choose First Property Check; if you came from this page the notes field is filled in for Zone Zero.

Book the $99 Photo Check. You get a fixed price for any clearing before you commit, and your first Ember Record either way.
